Sleeping better at night

Thought I'd let you know that we're sleeping a lot better at night now...

For those who aren't local...

We can now go to sleep without the fear that the phone will ring in the dead of night with the call to attend another fire. We wake up in the morning without the dread that we'll see plumes of smoke up our valley. And the planes and helicopters have (mostly) stopped their regular flights overhead.

Of course, there's still the threat of fire from lightning or cigarette butts thrown out a car window. But it's not quite the same as knowing there is some-one travelling our road and  wilfully lighting fires. Thankfully that person is no longer free to light fires. Not that we wish him ill, we hope he gets the help he needs, but we're glad we don't have the daily worry now.

Instead, even in the midst of getting the small people to bed at a reasonable time last night, we can look out as the sun sets admiring the colours on the hills and in the sky. And wonder that we're privileged to live in such a beautiful place. If you check out the detail in these shots there's a tiny insect caught mid-air as it approaches the stalk and the cobwebs just glowing in the sunlight whilst blowing on the breeze (a bit like my lounge room!)...

Enjoy the details of your life today...
